I arrived there at about 5am Saturday morning, slept for a few hours and then started the weekend. Ate breakfast in Hollywood at a yummy restaurant that had really good fresh squeezed, $5.00 orange juice. OK, so I had two! It was fun talking and catching up. After breakfast, we got ready for the beach. We went to Malibu to an awesome beach where only few hang out, which is great for body boarding! You don't have to worry about running right smack into anyone. The waves were amazing, the weather was great and the water was comfortable. Brandon was so much fun to board with and we had a blast. There were dolphins fairly close to us and one even jumped out of the water. I felt like I was in Hawaii! All I can say to that is "FUN!"
Later that night we went back into Hollywood and ate sushi at Kabuki. Very delicious! Brandon and I had a great time, laughing and talking! We left the restaurant and talked about many things on our way to his friends party. He mentioned that Hollywood is a bit weird at night and just watch around you. So, we got to the party, hung out and had a couple drinks. I got to meet some of his friends and it was a good time. It was about midnight and we decided to leave and possibly go somewhere else for a bit. As we walked out of the gate and down a couple of stairs, a man appeared. In an instant, Brandon had a gun to his chest and a man demanded money from him. At this point I'm thinking to myself, OK, joke over, ha ha. But my gut was yelling at me, "Hey stupid, this is not a joke! This is one crazy idiot!" I was standing behind Brandon and slowly pushed my pursed behind my back. Although I would have given him whatever he wanted, I was still trying to avoid him pointing that thing at me. Brandon did not have any cash on him and I'm thinking this man is crazy and I'll just give him my eighty dollars. Brandon offered the man his credit card and whatever else he wanted. The man didn't want the cards, he just wanted money. He gave the card back to Brandon and then told us to "Get the f*** out of here!" All I can think of at that moment was, "yeah, no effin' problem." So we parted our ways with this sick, deranged, piece of s*** that I hope rots in h***.
I'm not going to lie, I was scared s***less! Brandon was telling me everything was alright. On the way back to the car, all I could say was, "oh my god!" The things that go through your head during and after a situation like that are endless. It just goes to show you that anything can happen anywhere, anytime, regardless of how aware you are. I look at things in a whole different perspective now. All of the things in life that bother you become petty after that. For example, I drove a little less than four hundred miles homes going between 80-90mph all the way! I get to the Hazel exit on fifty and I get pulled over for speeding. This is just a few miles from home. The officer asked how fast I think I was going and I was honest and told him somewhere between 85-90mph, he got me at 83mph. This was the first time I have ever got a ticket in my life. I am always honest and they always let me go, but not this one. He gave me a citation and I wasn't even mad! I even told him it was about time I got a ticket because I have been speeding around for twelve years now and never been given a ticket. Anyway, I was alive to get the ticket! Ha! I don't even stress about the trivial things in life anymore. I am here, healthy and alive and that is a gift. Don't stress about the small stuff! Live each day to the fullest because you never know what will happen!
Needless to say, we went home after that. We decided to get some rest for Malibu again the next day. A few people met us out there which was fun, except the water was a little cold and choppy and the waves were nowhere as fun as the day before. So we all headed to Santa Monica. The sun was out, the water was a bit warmer and we did some body surfing. So much fun! I even planted my face into the sand under this wave and slid a little! It was fun. I'm still finding sand in my ears. I had fun with Brandon and his friends and hope to get myself down there again soon. Next time i'll fly. By the time you pay for gas and a ticket, you could've bought two or three round trip tickets! Geez! It was all fun and worth it though! Thanks Brandon for having me down and making it a fun time. And thanks to his roomates for letting me invade their bathrooms! =)
One of my besties!
Malibu!
